What's everyone use to rip their songs off their CD's? I used to use Audiograbber way back when, but it was pain in the ass to crack (poor ass HS student). I just found out it went freeware in February. It's a great utility in my mind - Rips the songs, retrieves db info for the CD, compiles them using any encoder you want (you can download LAME), it will even normalize the tracks as well! Cool features, easy to use.

    Anyone got anything better?

exact audio copy with the lame encoder. It doesn't get any better than that.

Sorry to bump this old thread -- I was doing a search for similar information and intentionally bumped it to see what you all use to rip CD's to convert to Mp3.

I recently joined the 21st century by purchasing my first Ipod this morning (Ipod Photo 60GB).

In addition to moving my mp3's onto the device (presumably using the included itunes software), I also wanted to "rip" my CD collection onto the harddrive, convert to Mp3, and put onto the Ipod.

I seek your advice as the best way to do this, and also welcome your suggestions if there is any other software (free hopefully) that would be valuable to go with the Ipod.

    Thanks in advance,

Brilliant - Thank you very much for your help.

Further to my previous inquiry, is there any "must have" software, other than iTunes, you would recommend?
