I have had various muscle twitches over the last few days and I just wanted to make sure it was due to dehydration and not possibly something more complex/severe.

    Anybody?

Urine coloration is fine, dehydration was just a suggestion.

twitching should be an indication of an imabalance of certain ions. Probably lack of potassium and calcium. If you drink a lot of water your body will expend a lot more potassium ions than normal. Your main source of potassium is fruits and veggies, so if you don't eat enough of those, you aren't going to have enough potassium. Note that a large salt intake also intake increases the amount of potassium you need to fire a signal.

To fire a muscle you need the cell to first build up an internal potassium imbalance through the celluar ion gates to discharge a neural signal. The same for a muscular contraction with calcium. An improper balance of all three = stuff goes wrong more often.

My calf muscles used to twitch often throughout the day and I started to eat a banana in addition to my regular meals and it hasn't been an issue since. :dunno:

    .

Especially if you're dieting and/or training a lot- get a good ca/mg supplement.

I don't think minor muscle twitching is a direct cause of ion imbalance...muscle cramping yes.
