I'm looking for a TV program that can processes multiple instances, for example, I can watch 2 or 3 of my favorite show channels at the same time.
So far that I use the default software WinTV from Hauppauge's, but it doesn't run multiply. :hs:

Anyone knows if there is a workaround or some third party software that can do such thing? :bigthumb:

    Thanks.

You need a tuner for each live station you want to watch, like if you want picture-in-picture or something similar, you need 2 tuners. With WinTV, I don't think you can watch one recorded show, while you record another, if you are doing MPEG-2. I know with ATI AIW cards, if you have multiple tuners, their software supports thru-view and such, so you can have a big pic on your desktop, or several small ones all at the same time...

um... not recording though, just watching the shows... :ugh:

i meant is there a way to do it without another tv card addon?

Believe it. It makes sense once you think about it. You can pick up a pretty cheap TV tuner at Newegg. Once you have 2, you then have the problem that some software doesnt support multiple tuners

They'll all be looking at the same channel, and if you change the channel in one program, the others will change too. I believe it is a hardware limitation and there is no software workaround, though I could be wrong.

I would have thought the software controls what channel is being viewed and the card only translates the signal.

yeah, but the card can only translate one channel at a time.
A card can only render one channel per tuner.

It's the same with PiP televisions. They are equipped with dual tuners to allow for simultaneous demodulation of the TV signals. So, yes, you are required to get one tuner for each channel you want to watch at the same time.
