Just did a clean install of Win7 on my laptop from XP and I have 40GB for OS+Programs so I got about 100GB of unallocated space left on HD but when I used fdisk to partition it, it comes out as primary partition. I want to split the 100GB into 2 logical partitions for games and media. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to use an external partitioning program to do it?

You can have 3 primary partitions on the disk.

There's no reason to have more than 2 though - one OS and one Data. If you want to split it anymore, put Games and Media as directories in the root. Why? How do you know how much space you need for each down the road?
