Ok, my laptop (dell latitude, maybe 8 months old) starts up fine, etc.

Anytime i try to run anything internet-related, or any virus scan tool, or any other application for that matter, nothing happens. it just acts like its about to open something, then just stops suddenly.

all i notice is that theres 4-6 instances of svchost running in my task manager. theres also the SAHAGENT which i know is some sort of spyware, which ive attempted to remove a million times.

And its not like i can just run a virus scanner and get rid of it, it wont let me! haha. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me. I NEED to use it for work, i have VERY important documents on this computer and i would LIKE to avoid formatting and reinstalling, but will do so if i have to.

thank you a million in advance.

seems to be normal with dell-notebooks, as me and my friend have multiple instances of svchost running, too, even when we were just booting windows.
(both dell laptops (inspiron & latitude))

i actually don't have an idea for a solution of your problem but as i experience the same.
but there may be someone out there who can help us?

Make sure you don't have a copy of a "svchost.exe" in your c:\program files\ directory - this is spyware and it causes issues. If you find one there, just delete it (and only the one in c:\program files\) and you will be fine.

However, I doubt this is your problem, though it may be :dunno:

    Agreed.

What "svchost.exe" does in "basic" terms is every process that uses a DLL to start creates an instance of svchost to begin the process.
