i know most guys just swipe them away i know the correct way to do it but during sparring it just feels so un-natural ..
this one guy blocks them with his elbows he juts them down and it fucking hurts the hell out my leg when he does it too and i watch him sparring with other people and he times it perfectly.....
i have REAL trouble blocking them its starting to piss me off.

Im bored, its 5 am here i cant sleep a fire alarm went off in my building at 3 am and we had to stand outside of our igloos for 45 minutes and i noticed how many hot girls are in my building and now i cant get this one girls hard nipples outta my head, but feel too embarrassed to .....you know....take care of it.
    Fuckers.

Sweep/scoop outside or parry inside. I'm not all that great at defending them but that's how I do it. Usually parry and step outside a half step to set up a counter kick. We're working footjab/teep kicks alot this month and I'm enjoying it.

yea i do fine when were drilling them cause i know they're coming but sparring i pretty much have a 98 % success rate of getting hit with them, total new guys, hell even a really new awkward girl nailed me three times in a row. i want to die.

Besides sweeping/parrying, or just stepping out of range, sometimes you can just catch it. Also depending on how their form is sometimes you can just crowd them. A lot of people (especially beginners) tend to bring up their knee first then extend to teep and when they do that you can just step in real close to counter. They might be able to push off a little bit, but when you crowd someone in like that while their knee is up they can't do much.

more situps with someone pounding on you with a kickpad. though i'm not sure if that works for teeps to the face.

Elbow is a more advanced technique and shouldnt be used in normal classes or very light sparring because the area is too tender to be using your elbow like that.

If I see it coming ill scoop it accross and counter.
If they are a little too far back my feet stay planted and my shoulders hunch forward a tad and stomach gets sucked in.
If the guy has good kicks then i keep my glove on my chin, and sweep the push kick with my elbow, just turning my shoulders.

If you're fast enough, you can lean down and catch the foot between your teeth. This leaves all your limbs free for any manner of counter.

Theres a couple of things you can do. One of them is step out at and angle and swat it away and then counter with a round house to the hamstring. Thats my fav option because you usually do a lot of damage with it. You parry it away as well and then counter with a jab, hook knee or inside leg kick.

lol Great thread. I spar with a guy who is also good at using his elbows to block kicks and even hooks. I really want to learn how to do it too, I got the timing and accuracy of punching/kicks down, just not blocking/parrying kicks lol.

use your elbow points to block jabs and straight punches.

to the head i mean, i just kinda went off topic. like if he's throwing a punch at your head, block with the point of your elbow. it kinda hurts the opponent a little.

no, i use elbows to defend jabs and straights a lot. especuially when i9 need to get in on someone. You use it just like you are covering up for a hook.

I was defending teeps tonight by sidestepping and then cut kicking.
