how do i remove items from the "startup" list in msconfig in winxp?
use this program, it is great for managing startup programs
just uncheck the box, hit apply and restart when asked.
Unchecking is obvious, I think maybe he's asking how to remove them from the list entirely - if you uncheck them, they remain on the list indefinately, just unchecked.
when you uncheck the items, it moves those registry values into another key somewhere. they won't be part of the boot process, but it allows you to restore them by rechecking the box at a later date.
use the program I linked to - it will let you do what you want
go to "Run" type "msconfig" and go to startup and uncheck all the stuff you dont want starting up with your computer. Most of it you dont really need anyways, and on the positive side your pc might boot up faster.
