Any of you guys use MRP or Protein bars? Looking for one that's low cal and low fat.. i want to eat it an hour or two before my bjj class..

right now i usually eat a protein shake in the morning
    chicken/brwn rice/veggies for lunch
packet of tuna fish for dinner and maybe a yogurt

i need something in between lunch and dinner.. trying to lose weight so let me know.. would post in F&N but i want to hear what you guys have to say first

I eat a Powerbar when I go mountain biking. Stays with me for awhile while supplying energy. The smoothie flavored once are really good.

my wife buys mine at sams club. not sure what brand but they a white wrapper and some multi colored graphics on the wrapper too. they are fucking delicious. I think 35g pro per serving.

i prefer to eat real food.

got the mini fridge in my office so i just keep chicken and fruits and veggies around with some assorted nuts etc to snack on as well.

if i didn't have a job that i could keep food with me i'd probably do some of these different protein bars etc, just compare protein vs carbs etc and pick 1. i doubt any of em taste too great

Lean Body bars are pretty good. I used to eat them during work, since I try to eat every 3 hours or so from lifting, but can't fit in a real meal. They're not cheap, but they do the job.

    Where's the protein son?

    10g of soy FTL

  10. Why would you want a low-cal meal replacement bar?

How's it supposed to replace anything with no calories?

Those Clif bars are delicious and available in bulk from amazon.com (and you can usually find coupon codes too - much cheaper than buying them individually for nearly 2$ a bar) or costco.

  11. eat whey protein powder, f trying to get it from bars.

  12. not if you put ice cream in them. or fruits

But the point was that getting protein from bars is dumb.

I usually like Universal stuff, but I haven't tried those before or heard much about them. :hs:

These are the bars I mentioned before--again, they're not exactly cheap, but they taste great and I've only been hearing good things about them:

Check out various supplement retail sites. I've seen them for like ~$20-25/box before.

    Says some fat fuck.

    How is it pointless?

That doesn't even make any fucking sense. Trying to get protein from the CLIFF bars is pointless, it's 10g's of shitty soy. The other bars suggested generally have 30+ g's of pro with around the same or carbs and lower fat. Thats good for pre-training.

    funny.

    false.

  16. I didn't say it was pointless, I said it was dumb.

Because it's expensive and high-protein bars taste like garbage and are expensive. If you really need the extra protein, protein powder (or even cooked chicken breasts in a plastic baggie) is much cheaper and it's easier to get a lot of protein. If you need a meal replacement, or an additional "meal", get a bar. If you need protein, grab meat or powder.
