I'm re-making a product that I used to make (should there be the interest) and I wanted to see how many people would be seriously interested in such a product.

My product is a steering mount gauge pod for the MKII (could do MKI if there was interest), and it would be priced in the neighborhood of 80 bucks. Made from similar plastic to that of the factory dash pieces. Would be available in both Black and Blue (factory interior colors... or as close as i could get).

    Made to fit 52-60mm gauges.

    input?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm in the middle of getting clearance to test market on mr2oc and mr2board as we speak so yes, i do know about those sites (same name there).

I used to make them out of fiberglass and had a really really good response to them, but I stopped making them because they were so time/money intensive to make and I wasn't making any money (time considered, i was actually going in the hole). I've refined my manufacturing technique and the design a little to where i can now make this a semi profitable undertaking, if there's interest.

I don't own an MR2 (though it would be fun to have one), but if I were going to put in gauge pods I'd put them on the A-pillar. That's what I did with my Passat:

I tend to like my steering column pod a little more than my A-pillar pods because of a few reasons. Namely, not everyone on the outside of the car notices it right away, and also it's much easier to see and check as you're looking down at the speedo/tach rather than looking left, then down, then back up.

Here's my unfinished prototype from my first go round.

My pillar pods are actually quite inconspicuous from the outside unless you're directly in front of the car, and even then they're covered in OEM fabric so they don't jump out. To each their own, I guess. You gotta get a better camera though, you'll never sell anything with cellphone pics.

Mine are mounted on the steering column too.
I hate them on the A pillar.

Not a pod, I used the Autometer housings/mounts.
I'll try to dig up a pic of it.

In those old pics, it looks white. It also looks a little off-center, not equal on both sides, etc. If your newer product is more refined, and is actually black...I could see it selling on the mr2 forums.

    MKI owner here. Possible interest.
