not really sure where to put this, but here it goes, haha.

we do an internet motocross radio show, and currently archive and podcast our past shows. my question is, is there any way to set up markers in the mp3 file so that when someone downloads, or streams, the show they are able to fast forward to a specific point?

usually our shows are around 3 hours, with 5+ guests. i'm just thinking it would be nice for the user to be able to fastfoward to a specific guest, without having to search for it. i guess if it isn't possible, we can always just splice up the show and have the option to download that specific interview.

Here's the cheap and easy way:

    1. Record the show.
    2. Chop the show into appropriate segments.
    3. Load the segments all into a playlist.
    4. Post a hyperlink to the playlist instead of the mp3s themselves.

That way your recorded shows are safe(r) from being swiped, if you care about that sort of thing, and your listeners can skip to whichever part of the show they care to listen to.
