Im still tossing arround this idea of becoming a MP.

I've always wanted to be a police officer and I really want to serve.

any suggestions on which branch I should look at?

I'd like to stay in the states and not go to Iraq if possible.

    Thanks in advance!

The point of this thread was asking for a recomendation of the best branch to join for a MP. Not a deployment thread.

can we get this back on track?

Marines also only have like 2 bases or something... plus all of the Iraqi ones, of course civilians aren't going to stand guard at the bases over there. MP technically doesn't exist in the Navy, you have MA's.. You're picking the worst rate/job possible for not wanting to deploy really.

If you want to get on track, lose this whole MP idea. Worst job in the military.

Military = Deployment.....even the Coast Guard deploys.

Either get a clue or leave the "I kinda wanna serve but don't wanna be in a hostile area" attitude at home.

what you can do is that immediately after you get in, break your legs. that way they'll give you a desk job.

Camp Lejeune has just begun transitioning out the military police for civilian's. :hsugh:

Probably to get more deployable bodies as well would be my guess.

What's with the huge influx of dumbasses in this board now? Is it the "cool" thing to come over to the barracks and make a thread about wanting to join with no intention whatsoever?

Hands down as a "universal" term as MP is, it is the most likely to deploy over to Iraq/Afghanistan. Get that through your head. If you said you were in to computers or some shit, but didn't want to deploy then we'd have some room to talk about what branch and what path is the best for staying out of the sand, but your picking the god damn job with the most weapons & security experience out of anything and not want to go to war?

Seriously go Marines, hopefully you'll soak up an IED so there will be less people who are worth a damn getting blown up.

I would like to hit the lottery, have Adriana Lima as a mistress, and the body of Brad Pitt in fight club.

    You missunderstood me.

I would like to work as a mp on a base doing things from trafic stops to checking ID of the people coming in. .

If I can do that in Iraq I'll gladly go there. :bigthumb:

Joining the military = Willingness to deploy

Once you get put in your inital MOS you have no say in where you go or what you do for a good while. Regardless of what branch you're going to its a pretty standard thing that MPs will deploy.

Of course you will do some time in a squad car rolling around on base ticketing people. But you are also going to do some time rolling around in security convoys in Iraq seeking out and destroying insurgents, clearing the roads of threats for logistical convoys, and getting hit by IEDs.
