    My 3 year old recently destroyed a few of my DVDs (originals), not a huge problem, but if he keeps it up, it will get expensive.. Are DVDs like CD's, where you can make copies for yourself without threat of prosecution?

    I was wanting to have the copies out to watch and the originals in the closet.

    Read the wiki and checked out winxdvd, just want to see what OT thinks.

    You'd typically want to use jQuery for something like this. For example, here's how I would demonstrate events handled in jQuery, more specifically, the click event.

    Code:
    $("#dvd").click( function() {
      alert("#dvd element has been clicked");
    });

    Here is my implementation in C++

    Code:
    #include <iostream>
    using namespace std;

    int main()
    {
        cout << "Enter the DVD into the computer" << endl;
        cout << "Enter the number of copies to make" << endl;
        int noOfCopiesToMake;
        cin >> noOfCopiesToMake;

        for(int a=0;a<noOfCopiesToMake;++a)
        {
            cout << a << " copies made" << endl;
        }
        cout << "All copies made" << endl << "Please remove the DVD from the computer" << endl;

        system ("pause");
        return 0;
    }

    In Los Angeles you can find shops that sell cool replica samurai swords. They may not be real but they are still pretty sharp...

    I'd enter the DVDs into Wordpress, then you can tag/categorise them, and only give your son guest access so he can't edit anything.

    You actually want to stuff the dvds into a cookie.

    Here is an actionscript 3 function to copy a dvd, it will also check for copyright infringement and return a boolean. You will still need to code the copy button yourself

    Code:
    private function copyDVD(e:MouseEvent):DVD
    {
       var dvd:DVD = new DVD(new DriveRead(e:))
       if(!checkInfrigement(dvd))
       {
           return dvd;
       }
    }

    private function checkInfringement(dvd:DVD):Boolean
    {
        var dvdBytes:ByteArray = dvd.readObject() as ByteArray;
        var copyPat:RegExp = new RegExp("\\/\:\g" "©");
        return dvdBytes.search(copyPat);
    }

    There are a few good myspace layout generators that can do it for you now

    :cool: It's a good point, although I tended to find that it had trouble subtitles.

    If your looking to use an inbuilt facility though, perhaps Linux is worth a shot.

    Using DVDuntu, open a shell and enter:

    Code:
    apt-burn FindingNemo

    Replace FindingNemo with the name of the film.

    and since you created the copy with a GNU General Public Licensed program, you will be allowed to issue 5 copies to immediate friends and family.
