anyone seen this movie? i found it very interesting and pondered some of the pints he made about time travel. I would say it is something like A Beautiful Mind.

No. Go watch Back To The Future....it explains time travel much better and clearer. There is not, I repeat, NOT a deeper meaning to Donnie Darko, despite what high school goth kids think.

    Still a good movie!

Donnie Darko was twelve different shades of shit!

the only reason I saw that film was to get into the tight panties of the chickie who "forced" me to watch it. few days later I had my nuts on her chin, so I guess the movie aint all that bad

I'm not some goth kid and I don't like the aspect of the film, but if you knew anything about the movie or the director's intentions you'd know that there was a lot to be interpreted and in fact there was a deeper meaning past just time travel.

Donnie was a super hero and many of the characters were guides, or aides, to help him to his ultimate fate. Even Cherita was a beacon for Donnie, not just a fat girl the high schoolers made fun of.

it's not clear whether Donnie had just dreamt it or if he simply forgot to get out of the house just before he died. It's open ended, a quality many people like about the movie.

It's not just goth high school kids, it's people who actually know a thing or two about cinema and have bothered to watch and read more than is provided in just the movie.

Hell, the director's commentary alone will shut you right up.

I could explain the film further, but I can tell you're not interested in talking about the movie.

I knew about those and I don't find those very "deep." ---- I guess we have different classifications of what "deep" means. If Donnie Darko is a "deep" movie to you, then thats cool. I can't see a movie, being that easy to understand, being called deep. Try philosophy out....

You are right though, I am not interested in talking about the movie.

so when you refer to "deep" do you mean deep in the sense like you have a cock buried deep inside your ass hole? Buy an av, end yourself, and open your closed mind. I fucking hate trolls in threads like these.

To truly catch the meaning to the movie you have to watch it several times at least and you have to discuss it with others, thats the very definition of deep.

I'm not trying to bring you down from your horse, but a film that has to be seen more than once to be understood is a film badly directed.

what turned out to be a bonus was that she had a girlfriend at the time [in other words she was considered a lesbian/bi chickie], so she obviously knew how to suck a tube clean.

Well often movies where you are searching for an answer throughout the whole movie and you finally get it, it often leaves somebody with questions...

and really deep movies lead to questions about those answers... etc

Exactly, it was Richard Kelly's intention to leave people thinking about the film. The film has a great replay value as you often learn something new everytime.

I understood Momento the first time I saw it. Great film.

I understood Space Odssey the first time I saw it. Great film, classic even.

I understood Natural Born Killers. My most favourite film of all time, and yes there are many hidden meanings behind that flick.

I predicted the end of Donnie Darko. I recall turning to the chickie beside me and telling her that I would be disapointed if it ended the way it did. So come the rolling of the credits I felt the suddent need to break something.

Call it ignorance. I call it a pathetic-attempt-@-film-making.

Donnie Darko is an awesome movie that gets even better as you rewatch it. I'd like to check out the Directors cut and see how it differs.

I finally saw it this weekend and its great. The time travel part was over my head and I need to watch it again to understand it. One thing no one comments on is the humor and the sbutle hints to the 80's. Pay attention to Donnie's T-shirts, all very 80's. The score is also amazing.

Because you have morons like "Brand New" who can't understand the fact that this movie is not hard to understand.

BTW, the dick in the ass was a witty comeback! :ugh2:

that movie was crap. I thought something might have just been wrong with my opinion, then I looked at rottentomatoes...

ebert gave it 2 stars. I really didn't catch any deeper meaning other than he's stuck in some sort of worm hole/ time warp paradox.

it had Cheezy dialouge, a crap story and uninteresting characters, but it's just weird enough for so-called non-conformist to form a cult following for.

if you want a deep movie, go watch chinatown or Unce upon a time in America.
