How intense of a work out is this sport? I have been biking for years, I want to exercise daily now and diet. But I bike so much, Can I like build up a tolerance to it and hit a peak workout?

I hear it is good because it is similar to H.I.T.T?

Will I lose body fat all over aside from my legs? I notice how toned my legs are, but my tummy is far from toned :o

    I am about 5'11 260lbs.

I bike every sunday, And used to bike always. Got a car, got lazy. I either do paved trails, or more intense for strength building workout single tracking.

If you mountain bike in the heat for a good 2 hours or more and are pushing your bike up steep mountains to get back home you will get a good workout lol

Yes, you can get a good workout from mountain biking. Are you actually riding trails?

I'm curious to know where you go riding at, I've been looking for trails in this area.

I have been planning to get my exercise by mountain biking but Sacramento is pretty much all flat. Anybody living around the area know the closest mountain bike trails that are less challenging than Salmon Falls?

Mountain biking can be great exercise, the tummy thing is like any other, you still need to keep your nutrition in check.

Biking is best but not if you're only doing it once a week...

You referred to your stomach as "tummy" and not being "toned" yet. Just clarifying that while mountain biking can help you slim down that it is still highly dependant on your diet when it comes to the ab area in general.
