    I have been having trouble really wanting to go to the gym....im not new to lifting in any way (been doing it about 2 years on and off) and i often find myself debating whether or not to go...and im getting tired of it...im trying to get bigger..and i need some motivation to get me to really work for it any suggestions?

    So either do it and quit being a lazy fuck or don't. If you want to do it bad enough you will, if not then you're wasting your time and kidding yourself.

    well its not so much im lazy...im not sure if its me but every time i look in the mirror i dont see any difference from like two years ago...i know im stronger but i just dont see results..everyone says im bigger but i still dont see it..hence the lack of motivation

    plus...up until recently i was training with a strength coach for sports..now im done with him and i really dont have a routine or anything but i dont want to get back to where i was when i started...so im kinda in a bind as to what i want to do for a routine

    Edit- that sounds kinda stupid becuase I said fuck 4 times, but i hope you get what i'm trying to say.

    its not so much that i dont like lifting...cause i love it...but i just dont see the results i wish i saw...and but then again i just do random lifts...dont have a routine...after i get through college i want to try and get into the FBI Hostage Rescue Teams...any one know what type of routine i should do for that....cause that would give me my motivation to get as big as i can for that

    i get what your saying...but need something to work for....i cant lift aimlessly otherwise i will just lose focus if i have something to focus towards then i can lift and know that this lifting has a purpose...its not that i dont want to..its that i dont have a reason..other than to get big

    meh...cant JUST do deadlifts..but i can add it in...as it is im only in the gym for like 45 min to an hour...kinda run outta shit to do after awhile..like i said though..if i can find the right routine i can start it right away...but the hard part is finding it

    Goals are completely up to you. Some people just focus on deadlifts or squats and try to increase it to a certain amount and then do accessory work around that to slowly increase their lifting goal. They increase it by 5% every week or so and work their way up. Others work to a combined increase of, for example, the big 3. They try to work towards a specific weight lifted versus body weight to classify themselves for a strength category. Others train for competition such as strongman or bodybuilding. It's entirely up to you what you want to focus on. Do you want to be the strongest you can possibly be? Do you want to look ultra cut? Take a week off and reevaluate your goals if you need to.

    i hate seeing guys who obviously don't want to be there and need a personal trainer in their face, telling them to stop cheating on form. they just take up space and hog the weights.

    strength and size progress are great motivaters, but what happens when they slow? if you don't actually like the process itself then you won't last.

    and if you aren't going because you don't think you see results, then convince yourself your body looks tiny, out of shape, and like total crap - then go set really high goals and reach for em. otherwise you're stuck in limbo, or facing an angry sr20wop when you enter the gym

    if you don't notice it take progress pictures and start watching how you eat... chances are that you probably haven't changed that much if you weren't taking in enough calories. Aim for 1-1.5g of protein per pound of bodyweight and count your calories, make sure you gain about one pound every week.

    I can guarantee you'll see results.
