Any owners here? Comments on 'em?

It was between that and a G26, but the XD just fits my hand better..

XD Is a great gun, I almost bought one instead of my H&K, but it just was too small for my hand.

Would have been nice to save $350 and still know I have a quality gun.

Only thing that scares me about the XD & Glock is no external safety, heaven forbid in a confentation the BG gets my gun, there is no thinking, pull - shoots... More than likely unless the BG is a seasoned gun user, it owuld take him a second or two to drop the safety, possibly saving my life.

    What caliber XD you getting?

    XD9 = 9mm

XD's have double external safetys.. if you are in a confrontation and the BG gets your gun you are screwed either way...

My bad, didnt see the XD9 part in the subject...

Well they have the grip safety and the trigger correct?

Still if the BG gets it there can be that extra little pause...

I own an XD9 tactical. I absolutely love it, about 1000 rounds through it now and no problems at all.

In reality if you are after someone in the house with your gun, you should have safty off already.. or that delay also may be your life

Got the XD40 subcompact. Just put my 300th round thru it last night. Awsome feel and I too am getting used to the no external safety thing. Not a big deal so far.

In reality, if you are after someone in the house, you should move with your safety on. There should be absolutely zero delay in the safety coming off, as it should come off as the weapon goes from low ready to a position of function. If you cannot manage to manipulate a safety that moves in ONE direction in order to make your weapon able to fire as you bring the weapon up to acquire the target, you have seriously gone astray in your training, or lack thereof. It takes far less time to manipulate a safety than it does to acquire a target. If it takes you that long, you're wrong, and you need to right yourself.

Oh, sorry. I forgot. Dr. Tactical prescribes safeties off at all times. Because you will never ever snag a trigger on something while moving. You'll never trip and fuck up by pulling the trigger. You'll never actually use your safety. It's just fo' dec'rashun. Woo woooooo.

That is why you use the XD.. no screwing with turning safety on an off.. I dont know what to tell you if you have a Wilson, wont matter, your gun is likely broke anyway and wont fire when you needed

I agree about use of safety indoors, because seriously, it takes no time to drop the safety as it does to aquire the target.
It can be done with out thinking while aiming the gun, this is why you buy a gun that FITS YOUR HAND, so you don't have to stretch, or reach or use the other hand, so it can work the way it was ment to work.

    *Hugs his Heckler & Koch*

Also I keep my finger on the side of the frame/slide area until I am dedicated to having a sight on the intended target.

If you can not manage all this, please goto the range and practice one day... and then the next day, and keep doing it until your not a danger to the people around you.

    /thread

Guns if used properly, can be a huge asset to society by helping prevent and deture crime and bodily harm of IC, but with out training there is no seperation between you and the BG.

Although I have to say, many of times I am at the range and a state officer or another LEO has come to the range to get in practice and it pisses me off.

They will be practicing for their once a year weapons qualification, and honostly I am not impressed at all with their level of shooting...

Typical hobbiests are so much better than leo's it's scary.

And people wonder why when some leos get in a confrentation they get a clip off with out hitting the BG.

Have the xd-9 both in compact and sub-compact. The guns are awesome, not a spec of rust on either gun, nor any malfunctions.

I have an XD40 and love it. Never had problems really, just 2 rounds getting jammed on the feedramp by some reloads, the first batch a friend had made.

You might consider getting the XD40. You could always buy a 9mm barrel and have a 2 in 1 caliber handgun. Just a thought
