If I owned that bike I dont think I would let anyone else touch it let alone ride it especially a woman. What the hell was that guy thinking letting her ride especially after she sat there fumbling around for 2 minutes before trying to take off. :wtc: :wtc: I dont even want to know how much replacment bodywork is going to cost if you can even find it.

    Honda NR750.

    Only 200 made.

    Oval pistons.

    8 valves per cylinder.

    Worth about $80,000.

Now worth half that cuz it was dropped.

Probly pulled back while the bike accelerated forwards, forgot her hands were on the brakes? Looks that way at least...

EDIT: Upon second viewing, looks like she wanted to jsut tap the brakes and straighten out...pulled too hard, did not expect such a hard stop and dropped it.

That would be a 100 dollar fix, wouldn't effect the value of the bike.

I don't know of many tip overs that are only a $100 fix. I've seen bikes totalled because of a drop.

Show me where I can get new plastics for a NR750. Cuz if anyone is looking to buy one, they sure as fuck wouldn't want it to be plastic welded... :hsugh:

That wouldn't even have cracked the plastic, a little paint would have fixed that right up.

I would like to point out to everyone who keeps saying "plastics"...that the faring on that bike is Carbon Fiber, NOT plastic.

CF is neither cheap to repair, nor do i imagine Honda has the forms laying around to relaminate new pieces either.

    No, not really.

The original concept was to make the bike a V8. And when the FIM cought wind of this, they made a rule change so that Honda couldent do it. Unphased by this, Honda went about building a new layout for the block design. They bored out the center to the two ajoining pistons, making long ovals, recast the crank, and attatched two connecting rods per piston.

In theory the idea sounded great. And truth be told the bottom end of the engine was absolutely bullett proof. Which allowed it to spin up to rediculas RPM levels. However the race bike was a complete flop. Becuase even with the rediculasly high RPM levels, the internals of the engine where not very friction efficient, nor very light weight. So the top power output onteh bike was bairly over 100 horse. So Honda scrapped the bike for racing.

Later on, they decided to revive the idea, and made this special edition bike to comemerate the project, and show that while the engine was not competitive for racing, it was still a viable option for a street bike.
But, Honda knowing full well that at the release of the bike, the current model VFR would hand it its ass, and that it really wasnt a viable or revolutionary engine design, they threw expensive alloys, carbon fiber, limited production numbers, and a steap asking price onto the bike. The net result, just as is the case for manufactures like Ferrari, Bugati, etc. the moment the bikes left the showroom floor, they APPRECIATED in value.
Thus forever putting one of Hondas biggest motorsport engineering flops, square in teh history books of motorcycles, as one of the most saught after, expensive, limited production prototype bikes, ever to come out of Japan.

And it would probibly still be one of the more impressive collectors bikes out there, if it wasnt for Ducati releasing the Desmosidici this year. Which, BTW, doesnt use oval pistons either.
