Depends on the make, model and year of the bike.

    Universally... oil and tire changes.

The basics oil changes, I do mine every 2k miles, chain adjustments they can vary depending how hard you are on it, we'll be conservitive and say approx every couple thousand miles, and replacment at about 13k-15k miles, tires again depends on the rider and tire type on average lifespan 2500-3500 miles we'll say. Valve adjustments on a jap bikes usually 16k miles. brake pads can vary by type and your usage style we'll say several thousand miles upto 13k or so. Fork fluid I do every other season. Thats pretty much the basics.

    oil change: easy and DIY
lube chain after each long ride: easy and DIY

that's the basic regular maintenance, then you obviously have to change pads, discs, tires, sprokets, chain, valves clearance, fork valves, at different intervals.

For chain lubing, I actually prefer chain wax. Same application idea, but there's less fling from a fresh lubing. Not sure what the major differences between lube and wax are, though, I've just always used it since my bike engineer told me it was good.

wax flings less, but traps dirt.

the ONLY reason for chain lube/wax is to seal the seals... the o-rings already hold in the bearing grease packed into the chain links. the wax/lube just prevents those rings from prematurely drying out/failing. cleaning keeps solids from tearing the rings apart.
