went into a cool gun/pawn shop in omaha (sol's downtown), place was kinda ghetto, but they had rows of ak's and ar's. anyway, i started talking to the two guys working there, they were pretty cool. told them i was in the market for an xd 9mm, they started pushing me towards sig's when i told them accuracy was a main concern, saying its one of the most accurate pistols out of the box.

anyway, they're a lot more expensive, so before i change my mind on what i want to get, what do you think the most accurate out of box 9mm pistol is? i think i like the looks of the 229 the most.

aside from that, some guns are going to be more accurate than others in ideal conditions, right?

i'd like to know that if i could manage to aim good enough to hit a target at 100 yards with a 4 inch barrel, that my gun would be up to the task as well.

The one with the most accurate shooter pulling the trigger. Unless you're going to be setting up on sandbags its all on you when we're talking your average quality gun.

Out the box I'd say probably G34 or G17L, but if the guns ergo's don't fit your hand well that can have an affect on the accuracy.

the most accurate gun out of the box is the one YOU SHOOT MORE ACCURATELY WITH

there isnt a magical gun out there thats going to hit every target 100% of the time just b/c you pull the trigger. i could give you the best gun on the market but you'd still probably be less accurate with it than me shooting my g19 with which im annie fucking oakley

While I agree with everyone saying shooter is what makes a gun accurate, my Hk P7 is incredible. Very easy to shoot accurately and it's got a great trigger. Pure sex...

Unless you are planning on using this as a competition gun, who gives a shit about 100 yards with a handgun. You will not be training at those distances for self defense, not with a handgun anyway.

Kind of a retarded question without more parameters.

In terms of bench-rest accuracy the most accurate 9MM "out of the box" will probably be a 6" 1911 style chambered in 9MM from one of the semi-custom shops like STI, SVI etc. I seriously doubt that is what you're looking for though.

Unless it is a competitive target pistol, accuracy is down the list a few notches IMO. Glock/Sig/XD/M&P/HK are all going to have acceptable accuracy at defensive distances.

Yup the P7 is amazingly accurate due to it's fixed barrel design. This would be a GREAT gun for carry. Only problem with it is it tends to get too hot to shoot after 4-5 mags worth and then you need to let it cool some.
Here is a video promo on it. I found it very interesting and learned a few things from it. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6239098748148707308

What about the Sig P210? Sig X5? I dont recall you asking with a price in mind, but wanted to know the most accurate.

Sweet.. thanks for the video. I've never seen this one before. :big grin:
BTW, that's my girlfriend shooting in the third related video titled "Shooting at the Pit" :big grin:

The P7 does get hot but in my experience it takes around 100 rounds before it gets uncomfortable to hold. I used to just alter my grip a bit to avoid touching the hot spots, but now I just wear Mechanix gloves and the problem is gone. I don't lose any dexterity from the gloves and they shield the heat.

I  my P7... :big grin:

Sig 210 is probably going to be the most accurate pistol without MAJOR work, but those are fucking expensive.

Dude, if you ever try shooting someone in self defence that's farther than 10 yards away, better have good lawyer.

That said, a gun is only as accurate as the shooter is capable. I have shot my Glock 17 out to 100 yards. In competition, we've shot out to a maximum of 30 yards at the last State Championship match and I hit COM while shooting on the clock.

Everyone has a particular design they will inheritly shoot more accurate. The trick is combining finding the right design "for you" with training and continued and progressive training.
