My dad just decided he wanted to buy one of these rifles. He is looking at an M38, and he said he will buy me one while he is at it if I want one. (they are dirt cheap)

The question is... the place (I don't know who he is buying from) has an M38, an M44, and a M91/30. I don't really know which would be better. He's been talking about going hunting some hogs, and he has done some deer hunting.

Any help would be cool. I don't know anything about these guns, but thought if there was a good place to ask it was here.

Thanks for the reply. I read that they were considered carbines, so I figured they were shorter. I couldn't find a barrel length on them, although I admittedly haven't looked much yet. They list the 91/30 with a 27" barrel.

Aim surplus has them for like $60? i got one at a gun show for like $120. so i inda got ripped off a lil. its looks pretty cool and i haven't had a chance to go shooting yet.

also that site has the 7.59x54r (or something like that) bullets for 40 bucks for a case of 440 rounds.

Will do. thanks. I'm pretty good about keeping things clean, and doing it promptly after shooting. I appreciate it.

I have an M-44 that is fun to shoot, but I want the M91-30 next.

Any of them would be good picks.
