I've been looking at AimSurplus's Mosins and figured I'd probably get on of the M44s and 91/30s both, since they're so cheap. However, I was wondering whether or not I should go with a laminated stock.

Also, they sell Russian lead rounds for $66.95/can if you order two or more, so I was thinking I'd probably order a crate (2 cans) at the same time I ordered the rifles.

That a good decision or does someone else have somewhere else I should look?

Are all 7.62x54R surplus ammos? Any domestic producers? I assume you can't just pick this ammo up at Walmart?

    Laminated is prettier.

Lots of milsurp, and foreign produced commercial ammo as far as domestic yeah theirs some but its rather pricey, don't think walmart carries any.

i always thought laminated was cheaper and made because of a shortage of solid wood. but they do look good

Same thing, the gun is cheap so what the heck, why not get a nicer looking one, imo.

I assume this ammo is corrosive, so how do I take care of a gun when shooting corrosive ammo?

basically as soon as you get back from the range:

squirt windex on the bolt face/down the barrel (use plenty on the barrel).
pour warm/hot soapy water down barrel/scrub bolt face with same
pour warm/hot clean water down barrel, rinse off bolt face
pull bore snake through barrel with some CLP on it, apply some to bolt face.

Go with which ever you can get a good example of. I saw four of the best solid stock M44s I've ever seen at the last Houston show. 94 bucks.

    These are $80 a piece + s/h for laminated, $70 for non-laminated.

With the cheaper C&R stuff alot of times I'll order a couple and keep the best looking one and sell the others to friends.

I'm probably going to end up waiting until I get back to Oklahoma to order this stuff. I'll just put a C&R application in so I don't have to pay for the transfers. I already know I want to get both of the common versions of the Mosin.

I really want a M38 since it's shorter than the 91 without the bayo of the m44.

Unfortunatly the local big5 only has m44 and 91 :hs:

I'm not reselling for business profit, just recouping my cost on the rifles I didn't want, and shipping :o

i still wouldn't do that. i've heard its still a grey area with the ATF and C&R license holders (to buy a bunch, and then resell all but one, even if at no profit). besides, if my friends wanted something C&R, i'd tell them to get their own license. its so easy to get, and only $30

As much as I want one, I am afraid of the trouble I could get into with a C&R license.

No, with a C&R license you can have them shipped to your door, rather than dealing with a local FFL. This only works for C&R eligible guns though.

P07r0457, get one soonest. Some sites say they are drying up and will be hard to find unless it's a private sale.

like what? follow the laws that come in the welcome packet and get a bound book pdf, print it out, hole punch and put it in a 3 ring binder and you're fine
