Who all has one of these rifles on here? I went to the range the other day (sorry, no pictures), and shot the rifle at 100 yards at paper (first time). Did OK. With a front rest, I managed to put all the shots in a pretty small group.

    91/30 crew.

haven't shot paper past 25 yards :mamoru:, but I have shot steel out to 300 (they wouldn't let me use my laquer case though, since its all steel core :wtc:)

The furthest I've shot so far was about 400 yards. I'm waiting for deer season.

Apparently 91/30s rearsenaled to carbine length sometime in the '50s possibly. Their history is a little obscure. AIM has them for $150 right now.

    - fewer of them
    - barrel is stouter since its a cut-down rifle barrel instead of a carbine barrel

    'sabout it AFAIK

you have any proof about the thicker barrel? from what I had heard, the M38s and M44s were both made from the same barrel blanks as 91/30s, just cut at a different spot :dunno:

No proof per se, just what I have read on a few forums. The worksmanship is supposed to be very good on the rearsenaling and they are supposed to be more accurate (not counterbored) - and since they were allegedly used by internal security/border police, not as shot out as some of the other Mosins available.

straight M91? probably, since what the ruskies did is take the 91s they had and redid them as 91/30s.
