Not sure which one I want more.
91/30's are certainly cheaper, at about $69-$89, depending on where you look.
But M44's are shorter and look nicer, but are about $100, sometimes more.

:sad2: wish I had enough for 2 right now.

I have an M44 and can't hit shit with it, but I'm pretty sure its my fault.

you really can't go wrong with either of them.

91/30 for long range, M44 for home defense

I'm not so sure long range is really such an issue.
This gun probably won't make it past your standard indoor/outdoor range.

I'm really leaning M44, but I can't find anything cheaper than $100. Not that that's expensive, it's just the lowest I can find.

    :rofl::rofl: WTF

M44 for home defense what do you plan on just simply firing it in the general vicinity and hoping to blind everyone within a mile radius?

Some of the M44s suffer from a P.O.I. change with the bayonet folded vs extended. If you want a short carbine buy a M38. It's the same length as an M44 without the bayonet. I gave my old haggard M44 to my brother as a gift and kept my 91/30. The 91/30 is surprisingly accurate and I've hunted with mine so it's proven it's worth.

That's the plan, and if I can't shoot the intruder I can bayonet him from any room in the house.

I like my M44 better. Both are nice, maybe I'm use to shorter guns but the 91/30 feels soooooo long.

That's about the only thing I can find wrong with the 91/30.
I have 2 friends, one with each, and I really like the feel of the M44 better.
The 91/30 is nice, but just gets really end-heavy after awhile of holding it.

i have an m44 and it seems accurate to me. :dunno: i shot a bowling pin at like 225 yrds. maybe it was the shockwave that knocked it over.

That's.....actually not too bad for a pseudo-Scout, considering some of the hack attempts I've seen. That one might even make weight

Almost pulled the trigger on a M44 at Gander Mountain today... but we needed groceries instead. DAMNIT!
I hate living like this, it drives me nuts.

    Maybe next paycheck.

    Yeah right
