morning workout people

    so i've never been a morning workout person, always afternoon/evening. well i'm going to start going in the mornings but i'm not sure what to do about food. do you morning guys eat a full breakfast before you go? just take a shake with you to the gym? what do you do?

    i'm use to having some good energy in me from lunch/dinner :hs:

    I try not to workout in the morning but if I do I have a weight gainer shake (the ON brand), it has a bunch of stuff that'll give you a little boost and I have my coffee then wait a few minutes before heading out. The first week is the hardest but after that it gets a little easier.

    It has never been the same for me as working out in the afternoon with 4 to 5 meals in my belly.

    A toast or handful of almonds about 45 min before.
    White flood or Jack3d 30 min before.
    Purple Intrain during.

    My schedule is fucked up so my "morning" falls at a different time of day.

    But usually, when I wake up, I hav a scoop of whey pretty much immediately. 10-30 minutes later I do 8-12 egg whites and oats or grits. I eat that slowly. Once I'm done, pack my gym bag and I'm off.

    I don't eat anything. I prefer fasted cardio and weights.

    If I go to gym in the mornigns, I eat sth. with much cybohydrates for my blood suger. Without that I'm not able to do anything

    I have two spoonfulls of peanut butter and drink some water, just to have something in the tank. Then I have a shake and whatnot after.

    1 cup egg whites + 1/2 cup cheese + 1/2 cup salsa before

    eggs/oats then gym 45min later. I only do legs in the morning. lots of carbs rest of day helps with soreness, at least for me.

    Caffiene/ephedrine first thing when I roll out of bed, no food until after my workout.

    FN always critisizes this, but it's always worked well for me.

    lately some greek yogurt mixed with a half scoop of protein powder right after I get outta bed...

    hrmm, i might just try the no breakfast thing and see how it works. i'll make up my protien + maltodextrin/dextrose shake and sip on it while i workout i guess.

    i would at least have some sort of complex carb to fuel you during your workout ...throw in a shake too if you can.

    Are you guys substantially weaker when compared to an afternoon workout? I know you should be weaker, just wondering if it's a huge difference.

    I think I'm going to have to start hitting mornings because I have no time during the day.

    In my experience, I "feel" weaker in the morning, but the numbers don't bear that out. At least anecdotally, that's the way it's been for me. :dunno:

    I have not done morning workouts in over 2 years, but when I did do them my typically breakfast/pre-workout food was:

    1 slice whole wheat/grain toast with natty PB.
    1 scoop whey
    4-6 oz black coffee

    I don't have productive workouts on a full stomach. Way too much indigestion.

    At first strength might feel low because you're not used to it but it all evens out after a while.

    I prefer workouts later on in the day though. Lately I have been going at like 10pm which is too late. I find my workouts are most productive if I can get the gym anytime between 3-8.

    i agree, that was when i would do the best.

    4ish, still had energy from lunch but my stomach wasn't still digesting food. plenty awake and right before the evening rush of people.

    ooh to lift at 4pm again :sadwavey:
