Bought this P22 at the end of September '07. It's been a great shooting little gun. It's as accurate as I need it to be, and fairly reliable. No real complaints on my part. I did have to fix a minor quirk that I discovered after doing a detail strip on it several months ago. Seems the trigger bar disconnect ears were a bit too sharp from the factory and started to dig into the slide. No biggie; slight dremeling and we're good to go.

Fast forward to today; it's second detail stripping. Roughly 2,500 rounds through it thus far.

Found this little jewel while scrubbing away at it. :squint: :

That's a hairline crack in the outer edge of the breech block, on the firing pin safety channel.

Now, I personally don't suspect that even if it does split all the way, that it will affect anything. But, I just wanted to see what WMD thought. It's not really a safety concern, is it? I've been looking over the mechanics and operations of the whole firing assembly and I can't foresee it causing any damage.

I figure I'll just continue to shoot the shit out of it and replace it if the need ever arises. Just a bit disappointed that shit's cracking already with so few rounds through the gun. :hs:

It won't cost you a penny to get it fixed so personally I'd send it off for repair. After it comes back I'd likely want to sell it as I don't think the p22 is a quality gun and that wouldn't help reassure me :big grin:

    But I likes it...:wtc:

But, you're right, I'll probably get ahold of S&W to see if they'll send me a new one. I plan on keeping the gun around because it's pretty fun to shoot (and CHEAP!).

I bet a suppressor would fix this problem. :x:

Send it back before it gets worse.

I don't know if they'll send you a new one but they will send you a pre-paid shipping tag so all you have to do is drop the gun off at UPS.

The S&W 22a is about $200 and isn't known for coming apart btw ;)
