I'm really thinking about making 2 bags, one to stay in the vehicle(s) with water, ammo, meal replacement bars, knife, first aid kit and a multi tool. i figure that and maybe a few other things should be enough to get me back to my main bag which will house more shit that i can toss in the truck or car and gtfo.

    anyway, on to my question

What bag are you using? Obviously given the decision that I've come to, i'd need a small-ish bag bug large enough to hold magazines, water, food and a few other things then a bigger bag for shelter, clothing, food, water, and other long term or survival shit while i get to hard shelter.

I don't like bags rolling around in the car, I have a big rubbermaid container that has a bunch of stuff in it. Its easier to root around in it for what you need. Throw a man purse in the car somewhere and then you can pack it from your main box as necessary. I never expect to stray far from my car.

My car box has a bunch of car rescue stuff in it including a tow strap and receiver shackle, jumper cables, some coolant, oil, and tranny fluid (I feel like I'm in FS), I think a tire plug kit, 12v compressor, some spare hoses and hose clamps...a little bit of everything. I think there's a tarp, some space blankets, gardening trowel, a knife, fire making gear, a stack of 4x4 gauze pads, rubbing alcohol, a change of clothes, a roll of TP, several bottles of water. In the winter I usually throw in some extra warm clothes, blanket, gloves, ski mask.

Personally I think people go overboard on the portable setups in cute camo bags. The box isn't sexy but I don't think there's much chance I'm going to be playing in the woods.

I'm trying to stay as far away from camo/tactical as I can. Right now I have some stuff in a grey nautica backpack. :o

Why TF are you calling it a "Bail out Bag" instead of a "Bug out Bag?"

All you'll need is a rifle and some mags. After that everything is free and available

    Why TF does it matter?

Anyway, wouldn't the smaller one be a bail out and the larger one be a bug out? ;)
