Anyone sitting at home watching this unfold on TV? This just goes to show that even with stringent gun control legislation, Canada is just as vulnerable to gun related crime than anywhere else.

perfect. i am right in the middle of trying to get rights for ccw holders in my state on campus. right now i cannot carry in a classroom, yet i have to walk through downtown at night to get to one of my classes. and if i get caught with a gun on campus outside a dorm or classroom, i can have administrative action taken against me.

(September 13, 2006)--Police in Montreal say the person who opened fire at a college has shot himself.
There were reports of injuries in the shooting, but no word on the exact number of casualties. *(4 have been killed so far)*
One report indicated a second gunman may have been involved. The man, dressed in military fatigues stormed into the cafeteria of the college, one student told Canadian media. The student said he heard about 20 shots and saw teachers running through hallways telling students to get out of the building. The college, with about 3,000 students, is near downtown Montreal. Another student told a radio station that she saw two people who had been shot, one of them in the neck. She said a friend told her four people had been shot. CNN was reporting that authorities were in the process of searching campus buildings Wednesday afternoon.

2 gunmen total, 1 shot himself, the other killed by police apparently. Unkown amount of students shot. Witnesses say about 20 shots fired.

    This is BAD.

We were just starting to have looser laws... and now this. I can already see them taking away our sport and activity. :'(

see, and if everyone was armed maybe those four people would have never been killed...we need to push the laws back, not add more.

'89 shooting spurred tighter gun laws

Ingrid Keigan, a 17-year-old student, said she saw one person outside who had been shot in the chest.
A SWAT team and canine units were at the college, going floor by floor to look for victims, Sgt. Giuseppe Boccardi told CNN.
"Most of the students have exited the college grounds," he said.
People have also been evacuated from the nearby Alexis-Nihon shopping center.
Canada's worst mass shooting also happened in Montreal. Gunman Marc Lepin killed 14 women at the Ecole Polytechnic on December 6, 1989.
That shooting spurred efforts for tighter gun laws and greater awareness of societal violence -- particularly domestic abuse. Canada's tighter gun law was achieved mainly as the results of efforts by survivors and relatives of the victims.
Another shooting in Montreal occurred in 1992, when a Concordia University professor killed four colleagues.
Dawson College was the first English-language institution in Quebec's network of university preparatory colleges when it was founded in 1969.
It is the largest college of general and vocational education, known by its French acronym CEGEP, in the province.

Canadiens need more gun restrictions, not the rest of Canada.

  16. you're preaching to the choir.

its completely logical and "common" sense to me that criminals dont obey the law, so every facet of gun control is completely and utterly pointless.

:werd: If just a few people in that cafeteria had been carrying then those guys could have been stopped early on. Let people carry and stop figuring out ways to make ammo more fucking expensive so if we DO have to use our guns we'll be accurate with them.
