What are the laws in Montana regarding keeping a loaded pistol in the glovebox/center console of your vehicle? I have tried looking it up, but haven't found anything useful.

Even if it is legal, why bother? Its too far away when you need it and you run the risk of having that really cool "dad's gun" stolen. Put it in your pants or leave it at home.

Im not a resident of Montana yet, so CCW isnt a possibility.

Edit: but you do bring up a good point though. There have been many vehicle break-ins in my town lately, and I really wouldn't want to put another gun into the hands of a criminal.

most places require you to have a CCW to have a gun in the glovebox. depending on your open carry laws you can have it sitting in the seat next to you though.

I believe you need one to conceal carry.

You're correct. That map is wrong...Heres the statute:

It only mentions carrying concealed on your person and I couldn't find anything regulating concealment in a car so I would assume you're good to go if you still want to.

From what I understand, if the glove box is locked, it is considered stored and not in a passenger accesable area, and you are fine.
If the glovebox is unlocked then it is concealed carry.
