I talk in a monotone voice and I need help in changing that. It sometimes gets me made fun of in school and I want to change that. Does anyone have any tips for getting rid of a monotone voice?

Well, and I am being sincere here, maybe you could try acting and/or voice (singing) lessons. That can help you with inflection, and varying pitch, etc.

    Eh?
Are you interested in what you talk about, or does your mind send some stuff to your mouth for audible rendering while it moves on to something else?

To me it sounds like everything I talk about is monotone. I didn't notice my monotone voice until I heard it on recordings and some people told me.

If it really bothers you, I really DO think you can change it. Just as singers train their voice, or how actors learn new accents, you can train yourself the same way.

The idea is to record yourself and listen to yourself talk. Practice reading a few paragraphs of text with the best inflections you can, then listen to yourself back in a recording.

I once took singing lessons and I was told one of the best places to hear yourself is in your car. It's an enclosed space just like a sound booth. Who cares if you look like an idiot talking/singing to yourself in the car. :hsugh:
