I'm looking for a good all purpose shotgun. 870 marine looks like front runner. I'll probably be shooting skeet occasionally, would this work at all?

My buddy has a sweet as chinese "something Dong" shotgun that ejects shells out the bottom (super tactical). He bought it for $100 at a gun show.

Also is there such thing as a good 1911 for ~$400

True but if you think about it how can you expect to get a good 1911 for $400 when the ones people pay $3000 for are pieces of shit?

because the original 1911's used lower tolerances to help with dirt and mud found in combat conditions. They were reliable as hell but they weren't the tackdrivers with all the extra bells and whistles and super tight tolerances found on the designer guns today. As you tighten things up, you make things smoother but you also lessen the ability to run when dirty and fouled.

The GI and Mil Spec models from Springfield and even Rock Island are very reliable and pretty damn accurate right out of the box, they just don't have the Paris Hilton reworks done to them. :)

Remember most highend gun smiths don't work on RIA because of the cheap metal they are made from

Why wouldn't they work on something because of the metal its made from?

Besides, what's the point in taking a budget gun to an expensive gunsmith? If you are going to spend all that money getting stuff done, why not just buy a high end gun to begin with? The only way I'm going to alter anything on my RIA is if I run into any problems, and maybe a different set of grips for cosmetic reasons.

Really? Have you seen this firsthand? Sounds like the gunsmiths that won't work on Norinco's. While others LOVE Norinco's for how solid and HARD their frames are.

I love my RIA, no problems so far. Plus their no hastle warranty can't be beat.
