    What are some good movie editing programs, and where can i download them?

    think about it... anything this complex (movie editing) isn't going to be free. There is a LOT of work that goes into it. Windows Movie Maker is actually pretty decent, however, considering it's price.

    I think a much more pragmatic rule for a forum would be to ban people who constantly feel the need to troll other users' threads with their unrelated ideo-political bullshit. If you want to rant about piracy, make your own thread and do it there.

    sparrow, you could check out www.doom9.org. It has tutorials and links to free video manipulation utilities. It is a bit of a beast to navigate and collect the tools you need and get everything set up, but hey it works. If you're just looking for something to crop, convert (using external codecs) resize footage, you could check out virtual dub. It's free, but it does require some mental grease if you've never done it before. AVIsynth is another powerful and flexible tool, but it definately requires some time to cajole into doing what you want as it is basically a scripting language. Both of these are linked on doom9. No, nothing here will replace a bonafide $5000+ video editing suite as far as ease-of-use goes.
