    Sup guys,

    found a pretty cool tip from a site the other day for speeding up your PC using XP.

    Find your sysoc.inf file in c:/windows/inf

    Open it in notepad and delete all of the "hide" wording on the file.

    Make sure to make a backup. :cool:

    When you have deleted all of the "hide" wording save the file and restart your PC. Then go to contral panel and go to "add/remove programs" then "add/remove windows components". You will then a ton of background programs you can delete.

    *warning* be cautious of what you're deleting!!! Many of the programs I've never heard of I just left running

    I took out windows messenger and other windows componants.

    All together using MSCONFIG and this nifty tip I was able to free up 400MB of Hard Drive space and 30MB of Memory.

    Example:

    From this:

    [Version]
    Signature = "$Windows NT$"
    DriverVer=07/01/2001,5.1.2600.0

    [Components]
    NtComponents=ntoc.dll,NtOcSetupProc,,4
    WBEM=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,wbemoc.inf,hide,7

    Just make a backup just incase you accidentally delete a comma. Seriously that's all it took for one guy to crash his PC while performing this measure.
