Alright, heres another thread since some pos OTer decided he wanted to troll and fucked up my other thread. Anyways, i was givin a bunch of advice and we concluded that my current routine is shit, so now I need to modify this routine. I'm basically trying to loose weight by gaining muscle and doing cardio.

    http://forums.offtopic.com/showthread.php?t=1574598

what exactly should I change about that routine? My guess is to change the reps and sets, but to what. 3 x 10?

wtf is this supposted to mean?
and what are these: "bent over row", "good mornings", "lunges" and "deadlift"

    Lose weight by gaining muscle?

If your working set on Monday was 5x200, you would warm-up to a 3RM of 205 lbs. The following Monday your working set would be 5x205 if all went well.

www.exrx.net for questions on most lifts.

I'm not really beginning working out, just this routine. I was doing my other routine for like 2 weeks but apparently it sucked. I just heard that for what I'm trying to do, which is gain muscle/loose fat, I should usually do 3x10 :dunno:

you're working up to a 3rep max, you have a few warm up sets and do one "work set" of the heaviest weight you can barely get for 3

You don't LOSE (one o, buddy) fat by gaining muscle, you lose fat by burning more calories than you consume.

Apparently you missed the warm-up part.

should I feel the "burning" on the warmup sets, or are they just for stretching and warming up your muscles? for example, how many lbs would the difference be for the heaviest set and the "warm up sets"?

I was told that muscles burn calories 24/7 and are more effective in burning fat then doing cardio :dunno:

The focus of the routine is on strength, especially on Squats. I wouldn't do it if your main goal is fat loss

While that is true that muscle burns calories its mostly irrelevant. Most people will still need cardio. Maybe you should look at the sticky, there are a lot of routines there, some focused on fat loss

Yeah, but you gotta have that muscle first, right? Correct me if I'm wrong but the F&N mantra seems to be "eat more."

do it after and its a great routine for fat loss - quick, compound movements and youre done

google will quickly tell you what those movements are

you work up with warmup sets that are moderate but will leave you with enough gas to hit your 3rm. it's really dependent, but a lot of people just add weight in comfortable jumps. 135x5 185x5 225x5 then a work set of 275x3 would be something i'd use

Because of you don't understanding stuff like that I say it's best you don't do it. Compound as opposed to isolation burns more calories. And always do cardio after weights.

a quick google search told me that compound excersizes are basically excersizes that train more than one muscle group... right? so wtf does this have to do with the routine I'm doing, because arent all of the excersizes in this routine compound?

so do you guys think that if I changed the routines from 5x5 to 3x10 it'd helpme for what I want to do? Also, should I increase in weight as I go up in sets, and why?

No, heavy weight is better. Dude, just do 5 heavy sets of 5 of the exercises and keep at it, you'll lose your fat
