At work, we are using a 56k modem to connect to the bank, for fowarding payroll info. For some reason, last week it stopped connecting. At first we thought bad modem, bad cable, etc etc, but we replaced the modem and it has the same problem. The modem dials out, and begins all the noisy banter but the PC returns an error saying the modem did not repsond.

We have changed all cables and wires, ran a different analog line to the modem, replaced the modem and nothing works. But when I plug my laptop into the phone line, I can dial in no problem. There has been no OS updates in the past week since this happened, and no other software installed.

Anyone have any tips as to how to figure this out?

Confucius say: "When things change and you don't know why, it usually because someone else change them." Did your bank change the connection protocol at their end?
