I want to do the same thing but I'm worried about using my backup HD for Wii games as well, in case something goes wrong with the Wii partition and it screws up the whole HD. Or maybe I'm just paranoid :hs:

I have a 320 gb external split with 100gb for the wii section and the rest devoted to NTSC format. Works great and I have never had any problems as of yet. Its like having a huge flash drive to transfer files and such.

You do have to format the wii partition in WBFS Manager 3.0 and use whatever OS system you are on to format the remaining partionin however you want (FAT or NTSC)

its the only thing to do as you will most likely never fill an entire external HD with Wii games. Some of them like the NEW SUPER MARIO Bros is only 0.34 gb. I set mine to 100 gb and that seems overly large to me.

I need to figure out now how to get covers for the games. They are just white boxes now with question marks on them

    uLoader?

in the tutorial video he had the box images pop up as well.

Just so I'm clear on this though, i need to partition the drive and format 1 partition with WBFS manager, then the other partition with whatever I want (NTFS probably).

I thought the wii accepted FAT? Maybe that's just for the SDCard stuffs... :dunno:

I don't know how much it'll matter, the drive I'm getting may be as small as like 80 gigs, not sure yet. It's a hand-me-down sort of thing since I don't usually need an external HD anyhow.

Oh, and can you put emulators/roms on the HD instead of using them from an SDcard? I'm using the homebrew channel and it pulls up the apps from whatever's on the card, not sure if another option is even available

You can get them on a USB HDD with some modification of the image path in the USB Loader GX config menu or by default it's directed to a SD Card in root:/images folder. Download this pack: http://www.wiihacks.com/software-backup-loaders/15350-1300-boxart-usb-loader.html

Extract them to the /images folder on a SD card and viola!
