    :)

hay guys, I picked up a pickup this weekend and I wanna do some appearance mods and probably an intake/exhaust/shifter as well..

i know i wanna go with a billet grille (not sure which yet) and yes a repaint is definatley in the works, thankfully I'm a painter so that wont be too difficult. I'd like to stay black but some part of me wants true fire on the nose :o

    oh, and fwiw.. its a 99 ZQ8 Sonoma 4.3 5spd

any suggestions besides a torch is welcome :hsd:

intake is WORTHLESS. avoid it. I've had a 99 chevy s10, and 98 gmc jimmy... both with the 4.3L and both had negative results with intakes. Thus far, all people claiming any gains are using their "butt dyno". All actual dyno results on a mostly-stock engine get a performance hit.

Obviously you're 2wd... Did you wanna drop it or lift it? You've got the quicker-ratio steering box, so that's covered.

If anything I might do a 2/3 drop but I kind of like its current stance

I'd say do a drop... Then some wheels. Nothing over the top... But maybe a 19" black with polished lip. I think that's a visually apealing combo on a black truck.

Then *definitely* do the clear-corner mod. Here's what mine ended up like:

best part is that mod is FREE. Just look me about 15-20 minutes per side. Under an hour total.

Nice. I really like the way the Sonoma looks. Especially the stepside model.

Its a ZQ8, so I wouldn't fuck with the suspension. Throw a billet grille on, some Envoy headlamps, get a rollpan on that rear bumper, and throw a nice coat of shiny new black paint on with some ghost flames.

Do some exhaust, I ran a magnaflow with a turn down in my 95 SS, it sounded pretty mean.

2/3 inches LOWER. 18/20 wheel combo. bed cover. lose the dumbo ears. and weld in roll pan with LED tails. then shave the tails as well as handles :o

not a fan of 99% of s10 aftermarket tails. And the caddy lights are WAAAY overplayed.

. and I think the S10 tails are some of the decent ones from the factory. if those LED lenses were red and not clear with some homo looking reflectors.....A set of nice 20s, exhaust, billet grille. A lot of people like smaller mirrors, but I like to see behind me, so I still have the big ones on my truck. I say 20s, because 19s get expensive, and the 18/20 combo doesn't allow for full tire rotation. tint the windows. a nice little stereo and you should be set

20's are too big for an S10 imo. I loved mine with 17's, 18's would have been perfect though.

I have C5 wheels on my sonoma... I think the 17/18 combo looks perfect on there.

S10's are one of the few trucks that I think looks good up or down. Most can only go one way.

kind of defeats the purpose of a 2wd truck with a handling package doesnt it?

InTheWorks, got any pics with the C5 wheels? :eek3:

not really. It's just a basic 2wd with a faster-ratio steering box and different shocks. Not sure if it has the g80 locker or not... If it does, then that's even better. It's not uncommon for the lifted prerunner guys to swap in the zr2 steering box... His truck just started with it, stock.

Before modding you should get it professionally detailed and get all those scratches buffed out and a few layers of wax on it
