With all these controversial score cards and talk of how the scoring system itself is to blame, what changes and revision do you see need to be made?

I know some believe that the fight should be judge as a whole (ala pride) rather than round by round. But I think it goes deeper than that, its obvious that there aren't any clear agreements by the judges on how to score takedowns, nearly successful sub attempts, and how to properly score top control.

Also the way the current system is setup, it seemed obvious that takedowns scored major points and were able to win you rounds, regardless of whether or not you were able to mount a successful attack on your opponent after the takedown. (see bj Penn vs gsp, Forrest vs tito, or most rashad fights) and this formula showed to be true, until the bisping-hamill fight, so whatever with that idea.

And how about Joe Stevenson, Joe daddy would rather fall back and go for a guillotine instead of sprawling or putting up a solid takedown defense. So if he attempts the sub, and his opponent escapes and does nothing but stay in Joe's guard for the rest of the round, then according to the current scoring, the guy on top wins the round. :dunno:
