What is involved with getting this to work on say. . a 2003 GTI 1.8t?
Is the quattro system controlled by the ECU? Or is it using a seperate computer? Has this been done before? Is the TT platform the same as a MKIV platform?

    thanx :big grin:

if i understand it correctly, the quattro system is almost 100% mechanical (torsen diff). so it may not need an ECU reprogram.

however that is still going to be a shitload of work.

It is true that the Torsen quattro system is purely mechanical but the TT/golf/a3 quattro is a Haldex - which uses clutch packs for rear drive.

what about maintenance? How often would these clutch packs need to be replaced?

Almost never. Seriously they only intervene when you need them, but they are really durable. A lot of companies use this type of system, so there isn't much to worry about as far as it breaking or need replacing.

For 65 large (including the cost of the car!! ) you can have just about any MKIV VW converted to a Twin Turbo VR6 w/ AWD. :bigok:
