MkIII were taken at 6400, then pushed +2 and then NR using Pixmantras PS action

D3 were taken at 25600 in LR with max NR applied and in straight JPG with High ISO NR on in camera.

Shots taken from the same place in my house and both cameras had 70-200/2.8 lenses shooting wide open

banding on a nikon d3? that is sort of surprising but I guess with such a high ISO it is bound to happen

It really shouldn't especially with NR applied. My D700 doesn't band like that at 25600 iso, as shown in the other thread with no NR, straight out of the camera.

    Dunno what's going on.

EXIF intact. I'm using FM 1.0 for the d700.. which may be better than FM 1.0 for the d3, since the d700 is a later camera and all.

In your defense, you just had a D3 lying around and took some test shots, no biggie really. If I had a body from other camps lying around I'd do the same.

In his defense, your post might have been perceived as an attack on Canon. He won't have any of that shit, make sure it doesn't happen again.

:hsugh: it's not an "attack" on Canon, and I wouldn't care if it was. it's just a stupid comparison, and we've had a lot of those already. I'm tired of worthless shit like this cluttering up OTAP.

well, then it's a good thing you posted in bold size 11ty billion font. that was MUCH better than what you decided was a stupid comparison and clutter.

I mean I definitely get your point, because your posts contain so much valid and useful information that it blows my fucking mind. Seriously.

not an OT link blah blah blah. I don't have a sub

    http://lmgtfy.com/?q=iso+comparison+d3+mark+iii

while we're at it, do you want to see an ISO comparison between my old Coolpix 2000 and a Powershot SD880 IS? I'm bored so I totally have the time to do it and then defend the value of the results on OT

Hmm. Right. Exactly what I thought. It hadnt been up here before. Thats a shame too. You seemed so confident. The icing on the cake is that the majority of the links are comparisons between the 1Ds MkIII and the D3 and that a handful of links are people looking for comparisons between the D3 and MkIII :mamoru:. Then youve got some posts from 2007, some posts with images that dont work, and generally just a whole bunch of fail :ugh2:

If you want to do a comparison between your two cameras, feel free to. Last I checked, that was kinda the spirit behind the forum. You know...sharing information and pictures and what not?

Seems like you took it as such, or you would've said something in JColman's body comparison thread, too.
