Does anyone know if there is anything other than system restore and the recycled bin that allocates disk space? I'm missing 14gigs of space on my hard drive...

you know hdds are rated assuming 1KB = 1000Bytes, right?

That means if you buy a "500GB" hard drive you get less than 465GB usable space.

What method are you determining how much disk space you're "missing"? Download a program called spacemonger and see what it shows.

    hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys

But if your total disk space is less than what you expect those aren't the culprits.

I've seen my recyclebin take up space and had to use cmd prompt to remove/delete the files that were taking up that space. However this was only about 100-200MB not 14GB.

Let TreeSize free http://www.jam-software.com/freeware/index.shtml#treesize have a look at your drive to show you want is taking space.

Does the space you are missing show up when you view the properties in My Computer?

If not, is your computer from HP/Lenovo/Dell/ect? They put in a recovery partiton that is not visable from the OS side. If thats the case, it usually can be reclaimed by turning off the recovery partition in the BIOS
