So, I'm trying to reconfigure this computer's drives as a mirror set instead of a stripe set and its not working. Its a Gigabyte GA-8KNXP motherboard with a SIL 3112A SATA RAID controller. SATA is set to RAID mode in the BIOS and the RAID controller's setup sees both drives and lets me create a mirror set with them. But when I run Windows setup (I have the F6 drivers on a floppy) it sees the RAID members as individual drives but won't let me install Windows on either. WTF?

Do you have to reboot the machine first, before the RAID controller's new configuration will take effect? Do you need to initialize the new mirror before attempting to format it?
