Rumour: Frank Mir could face Antonio Nogueira at UFC 85

Dreamfighters.com has learned through a source that Frank Mir and Antonio Nogueira are set to face off against each other at UFC 85.

To add: Frank Mir vs Justin McCully has been removed from the UFC 86 main card. Also, UFC 85 was set to be free on spike since the top head linners have pulled out, however now that is back on PPV, it suggests that a title fight, or a main card fight might happen.

Also, these two have been heavily rumoured to be facing each other in the near future, as it would be one of the greatest BJJ/Submission matches of the UFC history.

might be interesting, but i see them keeping it standing and going to the judges

Pretty solid statement on the conditon of the UFC heavyweight division if Mir is getting a title shot.

    I wouldn't pay $40 for this

I think the UFC should only have about 4 PPV cards a year though

I think more than anything this just shows how weak the heavyweight division is now.

i dont think Werdum can beat him, and if he gets the next shot, i think he could take Nog. With his bjj and wrestling background, i think he'll be fine, and if tim and herring could drop Nog, i think Vera can do worse. At least i hope he can.

  14. Tim and Herring are both much bigger than Vera and probably hit harder. Tim definitely does. Vera couldn't drag Tim down and Nog could. Nog's size, toughness, and boxing could make life hard for Vera too. How would vera do over 5 rounds?

It'd be an interesting fight, to be sure.

while nog's boxing is not bad technically, it seriously lacks power.

completely different strikes. Herring and Tim are forced to try and power out KO's. There is a big difference between a technical striker and a big strong goofy striker. Hitting someone when they arent expecting it is MUCH more effective at getting the KO than just throwing big heavy shots all day.

I see Vera beating up his body and then dropping him. I dont see him getting the KO victory or finishing him.

Mir vs Nog would be epic. Hopefull it doesnt turn out like Werdum vs Gonzaga and they actually roll a little.

  23. Mir will have to roll. He can't stand with Nog.

Nog will BADLY outclass him on the ground, and even if Mir doesn't get subbed while fresh, he will gas by the second round and embarass himself.
