What would it take to setup something like the minute men, but guarding schools?

Maybe it'd be a way for people to volunteer their time to show the rest of world all gun owners arn't nuts looking to shoot up schools?

Then again it might not ever work, or just be stupid idea.

It wouldn't work. If a civilian rushed in with a gun to try and stop a school shooting then they'd be punished just as severely as the people doing the shooting. Thanks to the last incident, which was resolved without a shot fired, the gun control advocates would just scream that gun owners are psycho vigilantes that'll only get people killed.

Rednecks with rifles guarding schools :noes: that wouldnt give us bad names

Also having guns available like that they could technically overpower the guard or something and take the gun

    Bad idea.

IF we were to arm people, it should be people that are already there everyday.

Once deer season kicks off, we have about 10,000 lawbreakers parked on campus :mamoru:

If anything, have recent military that live in the area volunteer in case of an emergency?
Seems best idea since they have had way more training than even the police

I like that idea. The biggest problem, civilian or military, would be identification. You know any cop showing up to the scene is going to be ready to kill anyone holding a gun and not in a police uniform. You would have to organize it in a way to issue all "first-responders" (or whatever you want to call them) with vests or something that identify them clearly. Of course you then have the issue of someone preparing to commit one of these shootings while wearing said identification.....

Prolly best left to the cops unless you are talking about people already on campus (administrative people in the school, etc) carrying a weapon.

How are they going to help? Are you going to have someone grandpa' sitting in everyclass with his rifle?

Honestly its tragic but how many such incidences have we had over tons of schools, tons of kids, and decades? The risk for this happening has to be like 11nty google billion infinity to 1. Your time would be better spent working to put seatbelts on busses.

Youd almost have to have themn associated with the cops then. Get the ex military and the cops together for functions or something so they can identify them and know who is the real deal. Then again, who is to say that I cant go get a cop uniform and go shoot someone?

I'd say the odds are that some idiot would end up shooting an innocent kid over nothing rather than foiling some elaborate attack.

I don't see how this will help at all or even how it's possible.

You want people to line up 1000 feet outside the schools with guns to stop people entering with guns? Are you going to search everyone's bags and stuff? Pat the kids down?

I guess I don't understand what you're wanting to do.

    I agree.

How often do these incidents happen? There are other things out there to spend your time trying to fix.
