This is the same Police Chief that said anyone open carrying will be put on the ground and have their weapon removed before the Police figure out if they're breaking the law.

I guess I dont mind the rifles, but knowing how poorly our officers are trained I really dont feel comfortable with them having the ability to fire 30 (or is it 25 :hsugh: ) rounds blindly. I could easily imagine a black hawk down situation here

Oh and a vid on the website shows them using 30 round pmags.

Columbus SWAT already has select fire AR's, not sure what make they are, very well could be the M&P 15.

IIRC in CA all police officers have to go through a 3 day rifle school put on by POST.

i have ZERO problem with them carrying ARs and actually encourage it.

Did you see on the news that one got stolen last night out of an undercover's car? He had an AR-15 in the truck of his car and while he was eating/drinking, someone busted into it and took that plus a few loaded mags.

The reporter was acting like it was the most deadlist gun ever. :ugh:

    He said it like this:

"This SEMI-AUTO! ASSAULT WEAPON! can KILL at over 500 YARDS!"

Oh holy shit semi auto. :noes: :hsugh:

I hate when CA media reports on gun crime.

I dont mind it if the officers are properly trained, but it seems like alot of officers really dont care about keeping up on their marksmenship training. Everytime theres a police shooting here each cops fires all of his mags and the suspect is hit like twice in the leg :wtf:

Also this seems to perpetuate an us vs them mentality, "citizens have "assualt rifles", we cant let them one-up us "

from my experience its not cops blaming citizens. they rely on us to comply with the law and not shoot at them. they're concerned more about people who have the guns illegally.

Well not in Milwaukee, where I've repeatedly stated that the Chief of Police ordered his officers to take down ANYONE carrying a gun, and determine if they were carrying legally only after their gun has been removed, this came the day after our attorney general released a memo saying open carry was not disorderly conduct, and to stop arresting people for it.

    Dog...aren't you afraid of escalation?

Gordon: We start carrying semi-automatics, they buy automatics. We start wearing Kevlar, they buy armor-piercing rounds.
    Batman: And?
Gordon: And you're wearing a mask and jumping off rooftops.

who cares how many guns they've seized? I bet most of the guns were not used to fire upon officers and most were seized when they grabbed someone with some warrants and they had a gun on them, stopped someone at a traffic stop who had drugs in their car and a gun in the car, raided someone's house and found a gun in the house, etc.

Where the hell did they source 25-round magazines, and why?

A pistol has the chamber integrated into the barrel.

Negatory. It's an extra school. Some places don't send their officers/deputies/marshals/metermaids (that last is directed at the CHP) by policy.

UCMPD and MCSO, especially the former, want every sworn officer and deputy to go through the class, because they've looked at their needs and decided that an AR-pattern rifle or carbine fills the long-gun niche better than a shotgun.

I'm a LEO in CA (sort of) and I haven't been thru POST Patrol Rifle school. In fact, I have to kind of get special permission to do it.

Our local municipality carries AR's in the cab instead of shotguns, which are now in the trunk. Although they did it for the correct reasons, not the BS above.

My PD carries shotguns and they have MP5s mounted right above their heads. Some officers have AR15s in the truck. Pretty badass... especially for a city that has nearly zero crime. :bowrofl:

I don't get trading the shotguns though... Some officers at my station have Shotgun, low lethal shotgun, handgun, backup handgun hidden somewhere on thier person, and an AR in the truck.

SWAT keeps full auto MP5's, M4's, and whatever handguns they have in thier vehicles at all times too.
