yeah thinking about that. I just wish I knew more about scopes in general to know what I want/need. Not spending $500 or even $300 on one though, as I wont use it that much. Just want something that is mil-dot and will be reliable for .223

    EDIT: thinking this: http://swfa.com/Mueller-4-16x50-Tactical-Riflescope-P9139.aspx

What kind of rifle is this going on, and why are mil-dots required if you don't mind me asking?

ah. well, I didn't WANT to spend that much. It's not like I don't have the money to, I just didn't deem it necessary.

    why not?

EDIT: again, not too informed on all the intricacies of optics

Doubt it, as SWFA is both the manufacturer, and retailer. I don't think they have a dealer network outside of themselves.

Mil-dots are gay if you don't know how to use them, don't have matching adjustment values, and are fairly gay in general compared to newer reticle offerings.

Though if you are all "OMG I JUST HAVE TO HAVE THEM", your BEST option by a fair margin IMO would be to hit the street, turn a trick, find $50 and buy a Nikon 4.5x14x40 Buckmaster.

Nikon doesn't make a $50 scope and the model he referred to runs $250-$300.

I had a Simmons 3-9x that worked great until it didn't work at all. It was on a lightweight .308 rifle though and was subjected to much more recoil than yours will be. The glass was pretty clear though, it was easy to look through. I've got an ancient Tasco 4x on there now that's holding just fine but it's useless as a paper-punching scope.
