Does anyone have a sense of which connection is better for the migration assistant? I'll be transferring from my old MBP to a new one, and they both have FW800 and gigabit ethernet.

My thinking is that gigabit ethernet would be faster in theory (although I haven't even checked that), but if so I am not sure if that is true in practice.

FW800 for sure. In practice it's faster from what I've seen.

Not sure how fast it would have been with ethernet, but the whole migration finished in 1:45 under FW800. It was approximately 110 GB of data in all.

So far everything works flawlessly. Second great experience using the Migration Assistant

firewire 800. I've done gigbit ethernet transfer to time capsule and its slow as fuck.
