    I have a 3 yr old black Macbook, 160gb hd, 2 gb ram, the usual. I'm seriously thinking about selling it and upgrading to a new MB pro 13" just for the added processor and ram. If I can sell mine for enough I might consider doing it because I still get the educational discount with apple. Anyone recently upgrade?

    i am thinking about doing the same thing, i have the MBP prior to the unibody, 2.4ghz processor, 180 gb HD, and 2gb ram.

    pretty much in perfect condition, any recommendations how much i could get for it?

    I just did the same thing for a 15" pro with the discrete video.

    Looks like most macbook's are going for $450 and up on ebay regardless of vintage. My mom's friend already said she wants dibs at $500 so that makes my $2000 purchase a little easier to stomach.

    I sold my almost 3 year old (November 2006) MacBook Pro for $910 on eBay. 2.16GHz C1D with 100GB HD and 2GB of ram...

    If I can get $700 or more I'm gonna do it. Is it possible to Time Machine my HD onto my external 1tb drive and just load it onto my new comp? That's one of my main worries. I have quite a bit of stuff on my comp that I dont want to lose.

    ^basically what i am wondering too, i think i am gonna do the same thing as you. the way i see it is this

    New MBP 13' Aluminum w/320gb HD = $1189 (according to apple.com)
    iPod touch 32 gb = $399
    Total = $1638.28

    Sell the iPod touch for roughly $350 give or take, my current macbook for 900-1000

    so $1638.28 - $229 ipod discount - $350 sell ipod - $900 sell current macbook = $1479

    so worst case scenario, i'm lookin at $159 bucks to upgrade to a new MBP, not bad at all, and with a little luck (sell my mbp for 1000 and the ipod for a little more, i could damn near break even.
