Not sure how far I'll get as i've already been just about everywhere and seen everything.

any ideas for how my character should be? what's good to work on early on? i always seem to just scrape by with only just enough caps/ammo to keep playing well. never focused on a particular set of perks either, just randomly upgraded shit that i thought sounded cool.

any cool shit i might have missed the first time? I have that DLC that ups the level cap and also point lookout.

I usually focused on intelligence and luck to start with. The more intelligence you have the more stat points you get to distribute with every level up. Luck also affects everything else to a degree.

Getting the well educated perk is worth it considering you get two stat points for every book you read instead of 1. I guess you already know most of this stuff since you've played through it already.

It's been forever since I played so forgot loads of stuff. Might ignore megaton and try to survive on my own :noes:

I played through the first time before any mods/dlc were out, so I'm thinking about playing again with some modded up shit.

    What mods/dlc should I get?

fook2 is a pretty good mod pack, plus it's just 1 exe instead of having to copy in shitloads of individual files

I have been sitting on this for over a year. I started it and quickly lost interest....still dont know if I'll ever go back or if its just going to sit there. I dont know why it didnt suck me in like it did most of you guys...I sorta wish it did because I feel like I'm missing out on something.

hellodon, its lengthy, but seriously, give it another go, try to get yourself into the lone wanderer's shoes. i just started replaying on my 4th go through, can't get enough of this game. i always seem to go back to it every few months, i swear i have over 400 hours playing this since it came out.

especially fun when you glitch op anchorage for the weapons :o

I played the whole beginning part and I was kinda into it. Then I got into the open world and I just felt lost...like, I really wasnt sure what I should be doing but I felt like I wasnt having fun. In the underground it really did seem awesome and I was really stoked that I gave it a chance but that quickly faded away and I was ready to sell it. I think I'll toss it in this week again...give it another chance.

yea it is daunting, cause theres so much area to explore. soon as i came out of the vault, i hit up megaton just to have a location to go back too, but then just started trekking out across the wilderness. any spot i found i would explore, unless i got owned, then i made a note to come back there when i was stronger / had better weapons.

currently im playing through with all the dlc's active, did op anchorage, then some of the main games quests and side quests, just finished mothership zeta and now im at point lookout

There's a mod that lets you build a settlement. It was pretty awesome.

FOOK came out with a big update a few months back. 2.5 maybe? That's got a huge following and might be worth looking into.

    There's a few others, too.

Modding GNR to add more music and decrease the constant repetitious blathering is a necessity.

I'm nearly 100 hours into my second play through. The first was vanilla FO3. This time I got the GOtY edition and have been playing the shit out of it.

The mod I use the most is Underground Hideout. It gives you a place to put all of your shit and also gives you this awesome little teleportation device that makes getting around much less annoying.

I also use some appearance mods but I don't remember their names (I'm at work). Primarily the one I use takes way the green-washing the game does and also makes night time dark as fuck, which makes night travel truly dangerous. I also enjoy a weapon mod that lets me get a nice .50 cal rifle to use, since hard mode and up means every goddamn thing you try to kill outside of raiders has some ridiculous damage resistance.
