I just read a few articles posted on here awhile back about how microwaving takes most of the nutrients out of the food.

I have microwaved oatmeal ever since I started eating it due to the convenience. If what the articles stated is true, then I guess I will start mixing oatmeal with boiled water. However, is there much nutrients in oatmeal to begin with that microwaving would destroy? I can understand food like vegetables loosing their nutrients since they contain so many minerals and vitamins. But oatmeal is mainly just starch, so does it make a big difference?

if that was true I think lots of people would have wasted calories. Cook it for 30 seconds in a ton of water, so it makes the oats juicy. Then down that shit. If you learn to cook it right, you can eat 2-3 cups in a couple mins

If you're that lazy buy instant oatmeal. On the food channel they showed this oatmeal restaurant cooking it (regular steel cut) by browning it first and then adding water and then milk. I tried it, it comes out great :yum:

I just boil some water in the microwave and toss it on my bowl of oats.

BTW- boiling water is likely to only affect water soluble vitamins.
