I know they're supposed to be good knives, but they look so unattractive to me :hs:

Don't worry, I'm in the same boat. Awesome knives, but not only do I have no use for one, but I've got no use for 25+ other knives I'd buy first :naughty:

    Shelf/Safe knife - HALO

Carry/Use - HALOs retraction mechanism gets annoying

The scarab is good, but just remember if its for everyday use the halo will get annoying. You must keep them lubed alot unless you get one of the coated blades. I made the mistake of using it with saltwater to open bags and it pitted a little and had to get that cleaned but overall its a very very good knife.

yes, lets ridicule people for their personal preference in holsters

Dude, why do you care so much? If he likes it, he likes it.

Now the real question is why are you jumping my shit? I was hoping for a constructive answer from the poster. Maybe he has some requirement for an easy on/off w/ a thumb strap.

Stating that, I see it along the lines of people who carry $2000 custom 1911's in $10 Uncle Mikes crap. Spend the money once and get something comfortable that will last practically forever.

I'm not thinking it's a personal preference as much as maybe he hasn't tried a better holster yet.

Though that one looks pretty solid for a generic.

more expensive != better. If it was, that would mean that I would have needed a new pair of pants after shooting a Wilson Combat 1911, but I couldn't stand that pistol. I prefered the XD45 that the range had over the WC. :dunno:

No it doesn't need it, you need significant force to push the lever up in order to activate the blade, I'd say about 10lbs of force. With mine some people had a hard time opening it and had to use both hands to open and close.

    Here is my current holster.

mine has stayed sharp, when I worked at the store I had a guy come and he sharpened all the grooming tools and the knives next door for the pizza place that belongs to a buddy of mine. It really never went dull for me but he did make it sharper. He would come in every month or so and sharpen it for free. He had a really really nice set of stones, kinda funny cause he enjoyed working on that knife
